this is fantastic, exactly what i mean when i talk about pushing forward one’s chosen medium. and as a huge comic fan i’m very impressed by the visual stylistics of this. top notch stuff
Thank you Noga! The possibilities of the medium is something I def think about a lot, so I’m glad to hear that, and also getting the thumbs up from a comic fan!
Really love your commitment to the comic influence — in a way, this poem is a comic, advancing itself in word and image.
I’m most interested in the sexual intrigue our spider man has mythology. I suspect there is an ugly narcissism at the center of it, as he names characters that were also normal/accepted and then turned into monsters (much like himself). It’s like he’s aroused by the arc of his person (instead of any actually persons, like Mary).
Had Mary been bitten by something ugly, maybe she’d be sexy too.
Thank you Rob! I’m finding a lot of possibilities in the comic to investigate in my poetry. I’m somehow dangerously close to end up in the monster erotica genre 😂 ahaha
That’s interesting. I’ve recently been looking more into comics for inspiration, especially after the comic based erasure collage I did. Might ask you about some comic related things soon
Really fun. Sick stuff. Thank you for sharing what lies behind arachnid eyes. 🙏
Thanks a lot for reading!!
Of course, I never turn a blind eye to the good good. I just wish, like our spider friend, I had more to cast around.
This is what the spider thinks, sitting in the corner at 3 am while I sleep.
On queue: The cure- Lullaby
I was going to say "Fun!"
but everyone else has already said it...
Anyway - fuck it -
this was Fun!!!
Tnx for sharing
Dave :)
Hahaha, thanks a lot for reading and commenting David!
Great fun to read
Thank you Lisa!!
Benno, man your poems are always such a trip. I love the way you are operating.
Thanks Dante, I’m really happy to hear people are enjoying the ride =)
Benno! I always love hoe your poetry slows down my reading. I savor each line. And the stanza with the emoji had me laughin.
Hope you are doing well!
Thanks Martin, I really appreciate it! Yeah, some dark emoji humor haha
freudian slip, Martin? haha
hah!
This is a perfect immanent critique of the superhero and the state… well done
Thank you Madeline 🙏
Some female spiders eat the male after mating. Good thing you're not sexually active. 😆
Love this, Benno!
It’s what passes as romantic these days haha, thank you Rea!!
That made me laugh, Benno!! Haha!
Fun—great form!
Thanks!!!
Wonderful poem. I love the experimentation with form.
Thanks a lot Damian!!
You know of all things, this reminded me of the show Dexter. Something about the “but human criminals I have a taste for too.” I really like this!
Thank you, I can absolutely see that comparison!

Lol do it, that’s the literature we need!

Damn, bro.
That emoji hit like a jumpscare, terrifying in the moment and hilarious in retrospect!
Emoji jumpscare was on my bingo card ♦️
Man just wait till I post my next short story. Gonna offend the literary purists so badly 👹
LFG 💪
